Awards Ceremony
Delabole Slate Audience Awards The selection panel this year has chosen the top films to be included in the Delabole Slate Audience Awards. The awards give you the chance to vote for your favourite films in the categories of ‘Best Film of the Festival’ and ‘Best Student Film’. Films eligible for the ‘Best Film of the Festival’ can be seen during two separate competition screenings (11:00-12:45 & 16:00-17:45), at the Princess Pavilion on Saturday 8th November. Films eligible for the ‘Best Student Film’ can be seen at the Princess Pavilion on Sunday 9th November (11:30 – 13:30). You will be given a voting sheet at the start of each screening. The votes will be counted and the awards presented on Sunday evening after Nebes Geryow A-dro Dhe'n SWF. This award is sponsored by Delabole Slate Another Country International Short Film Award Another Country is the Festival’s new international short film competition and the winner will receive £1,000 from the competition’s sponsors, University College Falmouth. The selection panel this year has chosen the six top films to be included in the competition. Throughout September and October audiences from all over Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly have voted for their favourite film and the final screening takes place at the Princess Pavilion on Saturday 8th November at 1pm. You will be given a voting sheet at the start of the screening and the winner will be announced at the awards ceremony on Sunday evening. This award is sponsored by UCF, Arts and Business and North Cornwall District Council Govynn Kernewek Award This annual award for the best short film proposal to be shot in the Cornish language enables local filmmakers to develop their ideas for Cornish language films and turn them into reality. The winning candidate will be awarded a £5000 film commission by the competition sponsors Maga and their film will be premiered at The Cornwall Film Festival 2009. The film proposals from the four finalists - Ian Bucknole from St Agnes, Matthew Clarke from Camborne, Patrick Evans from Penryn and Paul Farmer from Truro - have been inspired by the Cornish wrestling motto “Gwari Hweg yw Gwari Teg” – ‘Fair Play is Good Play’. This year the Govynn Kernewek candidates have benefited from more support than ever before in the form of mentoring by Cornish film industry professionals Simon Harvey (o-region), Colin Rogers (Deco Films) and Bill Scott (Wild West Films). The awards ceremony will open with a World Premier screening of the winner of the Govynn Kernewek Award 2007, Jack Morrison’s Nebes Geryow A-dro Dhe'n SWF. This award is sponsored by Maga
